Foz Seeks Help As Injury Fails To Heal

The 30-year-old centre-forward, who has played just once since the turn of the year, was in Manchester today so that a specialist could attempt to find a remedy for his injury mystery.

Fozzy, the club's star striker, has not featured since January 17th when Reading won 1-0 away at Nottingham Forest. Whilst Shaun Goater has proved an able deputy, Steve Coppell will want his livewire frontman back in action before the end of the campaign to aid the club's push for a play-off berth.

Physio Jon Fearn cannot understand why Forster is not recovering from the stomach injury that he sustained six weeks ago, but remains confident that first team return-delaying surgery will not be necessary.

"We're going to Manchester to hopefully sort things out. It still hasn't improved since we last saw a specialist three weeks ago and hopefully we can get rid of the problem," said Fearn speaking to the official site.

After a succession of MRI scans and various other checks that failed to ascertain the extent of the damage, Forster is finally to visit a special specialist.

Fearn added: "The specialist we're seeing has been recommended by some Premiership physios I know, and he's worked with players from Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United."

Meanwhile, right-back Graeme Murty could miss this weekend's game against Crystal Palace with a twisted knee. The former York City man hobbled out of last Saturday's clash against Sheffield United but is hoping to make a first team comeback just seven days after going down with what appeared to be a season-ending injury.
