The match, which is the team's penultimate pre-season game, is a chance for Pardew to finalize his plans for the new season. Given the importance of the game, the Royals boss has understandably chosen to field a strong line-up.
The team includes recent injury victims Nicky Forster and Graeme Murty whose comebacks are nearing completion. But Steve Brown and Ricky Newman are sidelined, having picked up knee injuries in training. Newman has been considered fit enough for a place on the bench.
