The 28-year-old , who is currently on loan at Reading with a view to a permanent transfer, was originally shipped out due to the adverse reaction he was getting from the R's supporters.
Warnock told the Fulham Chronicle: "He (Leigertwood) has had moments at Loftus Road where fans are very quick to get on his back, which I think is sad really. But that's why I decided to let him go on loan.
"He always gives 100 per cent, whatever he does, and is an unsung hero, who goes about his job in the right way. But it's very difficult when people are waiting on your first mistake. I think it has affected his confidence.
"I'm not forcing him out, he knows that but if he can find a good club, he deserves it, because he doesn't deserve to be picked on every time he makes a mistake."
