The 32-year-old has been unable to get into the first team this season, and, after a showdown meeting with Alan Pardew, the club agreed to let the former Saddlers player go on a free transfer.
According to reports, Adi is set to put pen to paper and sign for Oxford on Monday but he claims he knows nothing about the speculation.
"It is well known that I am likely to leave the club but I have heard nothing from Oxford as yet," he explained to BBC Radio Berkshire.
He added: "I sat down with the gaffer (Alan Pardew) on Monday and had an amicable chat - there was no shouting or arguing - and we both agreed that I should be allowed to look for a new club.
"It is well-documented that the club are looking for a new centre-back and should they got one then I will go if the right offer for me and my family comes in from another club.
"I am pleased that Alan Pardew has been so honest with me - it was good to know where I stood."
As if to confirm that his stint with the Royals is over, Adi continued: "I have thoroughly enjoyed my two years at the club - this is an excellent club and in many ways it is hard to leave.
"It's been hard for me as after ten years as a professional footballer who has always been in the first-team I have found myself in the reserves lately. Whilst I am still at this club I like to think that I'll give 120%
"It was nice to be on the bench today even though I didn't play. We got a win here at my old club which was good."
