"He played a reserve game against Millwall at the end of last week and did very well," Reading director of football Nick Hammond told Sky Sports.
"He's a clever striker around the box and he's football intelligent so we're going to continue to have a close look at him.
"If he continues to look as though he knows where the net is, like he does in training, then we'll give him a good go because he can play and he's a lovely lad.
"You can see some of his father's attributes in his game. He's got that eye for goal and clever movement. I think Ian Wright took time to mature as a player, but Brett has that time on his side and if he gets anywhere near as good as his dad then he'll be okay."
