Sidwell's future at Reading looks uncertain with the 23-year-old rejecting the club's offer of a new deal.
The former Arsenal trainee has just a year to run on his current contract and he is ready to sit tight and see out the remaining 12 months of his deal.
"It seems likely I will still be a Reading player come the start of the season as the club have said they don't want to sell me," Sidwell told the Reading Post.
"Man City put in a bid and I went up there to have a look around. I was very impressed and thought the stadium was fantastic, but Reading rejected the bid.
"Reading came back to me with another contract offer, but we couldn't find an agreement so I've decided not to sign anything now.
"If that means staying here for another season then I've got no problem with that.
"I don't want to go down the road of handing in transfer requests."
