Despite being so in-demand the former Man Utd player has opted for the humble Portsmouth Football Club.
Save a dramatic late swoop, Alan Pardew will not be partnering Nicky Forster with Teddy Sheringham next season.
Speaking to Pompey's Official Site, Portsmouth Chief Executive Peter Storrie confirmed that Sheringham is set to follow Patrick Berger and Boris Zivkovic in signing for the South Coast side.
"We hope to have an agreement with Teddy in place soon - but can't do anything further until he returns from his holiday," he said.
It had been believed that Portsmouth and Reading were the only real contenders for the Londoner's signature. Despite being a First Division side Reading were thought to be favourites to sign the much-wanted bosman man.

Speaking to readingfc.co.uk Howe said: "We have expressed an interest in David Connolly but have not made an offer. I am not sure whether we are going to make a bid, we have got a lot of alternatives at this stage and are weighing up our options."
