Hughes, Mackie and Rougier are all set up their training regimes in a bid to make a quick return to first team action.

Meanwhile, defender Adi Whitbread, missing for almost a year now due to injury has set his sights on a return to action next month.

Physio Jon Fearn confirmed to readingfc.co.uk: "He has begun light training and should begin training with a football early next week."

Meanwhile, a specialist has confirmed that Trinidad & Tobagan Anthony Rougier has an outside chance of playing at Preston on Saturday. He could be joined in the Royals team by Andy Hughes who has now recovered from a rib injury.

John Mackie is hoping for an imminent return to first team action, however, he has been forced to sit out of tomorrow's reserve team clash with Bristol City as he is yet to recover from an ankle injury.

Darius Henderson remains on schedule to make a return to action in around three weeks tim, once he has recovered from a knee problem.
