Reading forward Simon Church says he and his colleagues are brimming with confidence ahead of the start of the new npower Championship campaign. Brian McDermott's team face Scunthorpe at home on Saturday, and the Wales international reckons the Royals are raring to go. Church told the club's official website: "We wanted to have a really good pre-season, and off the back of the results and performances the team have had we're on a high batch of confidence heading into this week. "Our aim this season is to win, whether it be pretty or ugly - for us it's all about the winning." The 21-year-old will be vying for a place in McDermott's starting XI for the visit of the Iron alongside fellow forwards Shane Long and Noel Hunt, but he insists there is unity amongst the attacking pool despite the competition. He went on: "It's going to be hard for everyone to get starting places, we've got great depth and anyone can come in and perform. We encourage whoever is playing and if you're not in the team you work hard to get into it."
