The club have unveiled plans to replace the current digital scoreboard with a giant screen which will show replays of all Reading's goals.
In addition the club intend to use the new screen for 'pre-game entertainment' which will mean marketing men droning on about the unbelievable Reading World and their corporate hospitality packages that provide the ultimate business experience.
However marketing manager Boyd Butler is looking forward to the installment of the new screen as he reckons it will enhance the 'matchday experience'.
"We're always trying to enhance the experience of visitors and this is seen as the next step forward," he said, speaking to the Chronicle.
Yet Football League regulations will prevent the club from showing replays of controversial incidents on the giant screen.
"We can show instant replays of most things like goals, near misses or a good piece of play but we're not allowed to show anything controversial like tackles, offsides or fouls," added Butler.
In addition, the club hope to show selected away games live on the new screen for fans unable to go to the game itself. When the Royals clinched promotion to Division One with a 1-1 draw at Brentford two years 5,000 fans watched the game at the Madejski Stadium on a big screen hired by the club.
Yet despite these proposed plans, one wonders how regularly the Royals will actually screen games as Reading rarely sell out their allocation of tickets for away games.
The screen, which will cost in excess of £100,000, will be in place for the first game of the season.
