The ex-Trinidad & Tobago international came off the bench on Saturday to net the only goal of the game as Reading defeated Gillingham 1-0 at the Priestfield Stadium.
The victory saw the Royals rise into the play-off places for the first time this season.
There is now growing optimisum amongst the Madejski Stadium fans that the club can continue their fine form that has defied critics beliefs and win a play-off spot.
But with only a third of the seasons matches complete Rougier believes it is too early to discuss the Royals promotion chances.
He told his website, anthonyrougier.net: "Its too early in the season to be talking about promotion.
"All the guys here are eager to play in the Premiership. The manager would love to lead us there and manage a Premiership team, who wouldn't?
"There are many games between now and the end of the season, so we mustn't take our eye off the ball and stay focused at all times."
The striker netted his second goal of the season and just his fifth goal in Reading colours on Saturday against the Gills. As a non-scoring striker he was understandably delighted to get in the goals once more.
He added: "All the guys did well today. It was great to be included in the squad, and get the winning goal.
"Fozzy did well to set it up, and i was so pleased to see it go in the net. Its the fourth time I have got the ball in the net this season. So far unfortunately I have had two ruled offside."
