Kevin Kilbane returns from a ban, but Fitz Hall is a doubt and Denny Landzaat and Antonio Valencia remain sidelined.

  • Reading manager Steve Coppell:
"On the back of three defeats we have gone heavily into self-analysis. We've certainly analysed games deeper than we would have ordinarily.

"When you are losing, work hard and try harder is the only thing I know.

"The players know they are up against heavyweights and we're middleweights so we have got to be quicker, better and sharper. At the moment it's not there."

  • Wigan manager Chris Hutchings:
"It's very disappointing to lose Emile Heskey, but these things happen. We can't dwell on it, we've got to move on.

"As one door shuts for one person, it opens for another.

"Marcus has lots of experience and some great qualities. He's similar to Emile in the way he holds it up and hopefully he'll get a few goals for us."
