Match Preview
Reading have no fresh injury concerns for the visit of promoted Newcastle but will again be without Matt Mills.
The former Doncaster defender serves the second instalment of a four-match suspension but manager Brian McDermott will again be able to call upon fit-again duo Brian Howard and Jem Karacan.
Howard returned from a neck injury to play the full 90 minutes of Saturday's goalless draw at Cardiff while fellow midfielder Karacan was an unused substitute in the Welsh capital following his recovery from a dead leg.
Kalifa Cisse (thigh) returned to training last week so could be involved on the bench but the midfielder is more likely to feature in Wednesday's reserve team game against Bristol City.
Ivar Ingimarsson (hamstring), Marek Matejovsky (stomach), Noel Hunt and Chris Armstrong (both knee) remain sidelined.
Newcastle defender Jose Enrique looks set to return to the squad.
The Spanish left-back missed the 4-1 win over Blackpool with a virus but is back in contention for a starting place as the Magpies look to a move a step closer to securing the Championship title.
Manager Chris Hughton is being cautious regarding Enrique and told the club's official website: "We're hopeful he'll be fine but we'll see how he is."
Meanwhile, defender Tamas Kadar is out.
The young Hungarian deputised on the left side of defence in Enrique's absence but lasted only 37 minutes before picking up a hamstring strain.
Hughton could decide to freshen up his team so the likes of Shola Ameobi, Joey Barton and Alan Smith will be hoping for recalls.
