Reading v Barnsley. Match preview

Last updated : 30 January 2010 By Angus Muller

Khizanishvili was an unused substitute during the midweek defeat at Sheffield United but may come in as Brian McDermott celebrates his first game since being confirmed as full-time boss.

McDermott has no new injury concerns ahead of the game and needs three points to lift the Royals closer to safety.

Reading are five points adrift of 21st-placed Sheffield Wednesday and McDermott has 20 games to save the club from relegation to League One.

Noel Hunt, Chris Armstrong and Julian Kelly remain the only injury worries.

Hunt and Armstrong continue to recover from knee surgery while full-back Kelly is out with a shoulder injury.

Barnsley will be without defenders Rob Kozluk and Bobby Hassell for the clash.

Kozluk was forced out of Tuesday night's win over Leicester due to a knee injury and is expected to be sidelined for two weeks.

Darren Moore stepped off the bench to partner Ryan Shotton in central defence against Leicester, with skipper Stephen Foster switching to left-back, and manager Mark Robins is expected to stick with that back four at the Madejski Stadium.

Fellow defender Hassell has missed the last two games after having minor knee surgery and hopes to be back within a fortnight.

Robins will be boosted by the return to fitness of striker Daniel Bogdanovic after he missed out in midweek due to a knee problem.
