It was a fourth successive home loss for Wednesday and leaves them 20th in the Championship, only one point above the relegation zone.
Laws said: "As a manager, you know if you are not getting the right results then the pressure mounts. I'm not stupid enough to think any different.
"But I said to the players, you've got to look to the next game, and maybe, being away from home, it might be just what we need."
Wednesday have not won in their last seven matches, and Laws conceded his players are low on confidence.
"Fragile is the word I would use," he continued. "The players are out there to perform. You know that their confidence is low.
"Reading knew that; it was always going to be tight with both teams down at the wrong end and the first goal was always going to be important for confidence."
