An estimated 8,000 people piled into the Madejski Stadium to see the team walk out onto the pitch to thank the fans for all their support during the promotion winning season.
Alan Pardew told the supporters “This is the result of two years of hard work, and we've all had to sit through some hard times. There are a few people I want to thank - John Gorman, Martin Allen, Nicky Hammond, Brian McDermott, Jon Fearn, Paul Turner, Kevin Dillon, Niall Clark, the Chairman.
"There is also someone who helped me a lot when I first came here, and I'd like to think he was smiling on us yesterday, maybe he eased Curo into that position – the late, great Maurice Evans.
"Most of all I want to thank the supporters. You've been fantastic this year, and I'll see you in Division One!"
Chairman John Madejski said “The fact that so many of you have turned out this afternoon shows the marvellous club we have here at Reading. All season, you have been absolutely fantastic, and there is no doubt in my mind that you have made so much difference to what happened here and at football grounds across the nation.”
“There are lots of people to thank. I have total admiration and respect for Alan Pardew and Kevin Dillon, and a superb squad who go out week after week with every intention of winning but sadly only draw! We are the draw specialists, but we're in Division One!"
