Parky Not Envious Of Pards

Royals captain Phil Parkinson, who lashed home the third goal in Reading's 5-4 win over Derby, knows that Alan Pardew has a tough task on his hands picking the right team to face Derby on Saturday.

The game is the Royals first in the First Division for four years and several reserve team players have played themselves into contention for a place in the side. Captain Parky himself is not guaranteed a place iin the side.

Following last night's 5-4 victory Parky told readingfc.co.uk: "I don't think I'd like to be in the manager's position! He's got a few difficult decisions to make, some people staked a claim against West Ham.

"I'm sure Pards will be sat up until the early hours going through all the permutations."

Despite the poor attendances for the West Ham and Charlton games Parky believes that those who turned up got good value for money: "I think the supporters have had good value in the two games - 4-3 and 5-4 - those who turned up have seen some exciting football!

"I think there was a quicker pace against the Hammers, the other night was a good game as well. There have been some brilliant goals for the fans to see - you won't see many better than that."

Meanwhile, Football League Chief Executive David Burns and Chairman Keith Harris have resigned from their posts following last weeks court case against ITV Digital when the league failed to win compensation for the £178.5 million that they are owed.

Nationwide League clubs face hard times ahead of them because of the ruling - some could even go bankrupt.
