Pards: There Is No Pressure To Sell

The Royals boss, who recently signed a new contract, admitted that Chairman John Madejski is not forcing him to sell any of his top players despite the harsh financial climate that football currently finds itself in.

Reading today completed the signing of Steven Sidwell for an undisclosed fee, believed to be in the region of £300,000, but Pardew won't have to sell off his best players to afford the deal.

Indeed, midfielder Jamie Lawrence is reportedly set to become Pardew's second signing of the week.

Speaking to readingfc.co.uk the Royals boss said: "I'm not under pressure top sell purely because the Chairman doesn't put me under pressure. I'm sure he'd like to bring in substantial sums for players but as a manger I want as many players as possible and he doesn't put me under pressure to sell.

"We've got severe competition here and that's what you want."
