Reading will tonight face German amateur side TSV Krumbach in their first friendly in Germany.
Recent injury victims Bas Savage, Darius Henderson, Adie Whitbread and Ricky Newman will all start the game but their will be many substitutes.
Republic of Ireland Under 21 star Joe Gamble, recently so critical of German footballers, will also start the game.
Ahead of the game a relaxed Alan Pardew told readingfc.co.uk: "We've got a few boys who haven't played much because of injuries, so it will be a chance for them to get a game.
"On Saturday (for the second friendly) we'll start to have a look at the team that will have a good chance of starting against Derby.
"Wednesday will give everyone a chance to impress me, and then I'll stick my neck on the block and say this is the team I'm thinking of going with at Derby, although everyone will have a chance to change my mind."
