Angan, a 27-year-old defender, who was released by French side Nice at the end of last season, is spending a week on trial with Reading who are currently spending a week training in Bavaria, Germany.
The Ivory Coast international was linked with a move to Premiership side Everton earlier in the summer but has since spent time on trial at a German club.
Alan Pardew told Reading World: "He's out of contract and is a player who is well recommended to me. It's not much of a drive for him to get there. We're having a look at him, no more than that."
Pards also told Reading World that he was pleased with the attacking in Friday's pre season win at Kidderminster - but felt the defence could have been better.
He said: "I was very pleased offensively, we scored four goals and could have had a couple more. Defensively we didn't play as well as I would have liked.
"Butler and Forster were terrific, I just took Fozzy off because he was on fire and I didn't want him to get hurt, he's looking very good."
