Reading last night defeated West Ham 5-4 in their final friendly before the start of the season. Alan Pardew was pleased with the performance and piled praise on young forward Darius Henderson who put in an excellent display.
Pards told Reading World: "We played well tonight. We didn't make a particuarly good start but once we forgot about who we were playing all credit to the lads they played well.
"However, we need to tighten up at the back and we'll work on that this week.
"The most pleasing thing was we gave them problems with our movement and passing. To move them about and cut them open is a tribute to us. My boys were great."
Commenting on Darius Henderson's contribution Alan Pardew added: "Darius won't be here too long the way things are going, he's fantastic! I've said that all along.
"I want to keep him, we've put a lot of time and work into him, he signed a new contract last year, if someone does come in for him they'll have to pay a lot of money but he's not going anywhere at the moment, hopefully."
