The Royals boss is hoping that his players respond to his rallying cry for an improved performance.

After winning seven consecutive matches without conceding Reading have won just one point out of their last nine and dropped to sixth place, the edge of the Play-Off spots.

After Saturday's defeat against fellow promotion chasers Nottingham Forest, Pardew wants his side to make amends by beating the Sky Blues.

"I gave the boys an indication of what I want them to do and I let them know my feelings. I'm not happy and I want that to be reflected when we take on Coventry," explained Pardew, speaking to readingfc.co.uk.

"We are catching them with their tails up, which is not always nice. The goals they scored on Saturday were fanatastic, and we need one of our players to score a goal like that - like Hughsey did at Wolves.

"We have to put things right after recent defeats."
