Royals boss Steve Coppell responded to the plea that the ex-Slough Town striker made last week for an extension to his tenure at the club. The striker, who heralds from non-league football, is said to be enjoying his football once more now he is back in the South.
Plea or no plea, in reality due to an injury to super striker Nicky Forster Reading manager Coppell had little choice but to secure the signing of Owusu for a further month.
The 27-year-old's loan spell at the club is due to officially end on Saturday, and the club will seal the one month extension a week on Friday (20th). The club are leaving it late before doing the deal so that the frontman can stay until after our battle with West Ham United on April 3rd.
Wednesday boss Chris Turner was happy to give the thumbs up to the loan extension as he today signed Democratic Republic of Congo forward Guylain Ndumbu-Nsungu on a two-and-a-half year deal, possibly spelling the end of Owusu's nightmare two-year spell at Hillsborough.
But the financially troubled Yorkshire outfit would surely want a fee that would possibly prohibit Reading. Furthermore, it will not be possible for the Royals to extend Owusu's loan for a third time as under Football League rules a player over the age of 24 cannot stay at a club on loan for longer than three months.
