The Dons have had a tough start to the season, a poor points haul of just seven from seven matches has been hidden by the media circus surrounding the team's imminent sixty-mile move North to play at Milton Keynes.
There were just a smattering of Wimbledon fans at the match on Saturday, many have diverted their attentions to the new AFC Wimbledon.
Murdoch was visibly delighted with his side's victory. Following the game he said: "I'm really pleased to be going home with the three points. It did look as though we were going home with one at the end, but the boys showed their spirit is still there.
"I thought that in the end we deserved to win. The first half we were still on the bus and we didn't get going until after the break, when we'd sat down and sorted things out a bit.
"I thought Mark Williams and Rob Gier did very well, and it's another boost to have the clean sheet. There were a few goalmouth scrambles and Kelvin (Davis) saved a couple.
"At the other end we had chances and perhaps should have put the game out of sight.
"The game lasts ninety minutes and we say this all the time. Every Saturday you look at the times of goals, and they go in in the 89th, 90th and 45th. I'm sure if someone does a survey they'll find most goals go in in the last five minutes of each half.
"We were stung by it at the end of the first half against Leicester last week and we said that we must make sure that it doesn't happen again and we play for the full ninety minutes.
"That's what we've done, and we won it late on, so that show's that we've learned from last week.
"We've had some good performances away from home this season without winning until today so it's nice to get an away win under out belts."
