The 21-year-old was handed his chance thanks to a knee injury to Adam Federici, but after racking up over 50 starts for a number of loan clubs in the past few years was a composed figure in the victory.
He said: "There were no nerves for me.
"I played Millwall while on loan at Yeovil last season and got plenty of stick so I was used to that.
"Adam Federici told me to play my own game before the kick-off, he told me I'd worked really hard to get here and just to go out and play.
"Everyone has given me loads of encouragement and I will get better with every game."
