"The one thing we said from day one this season was that if you are unfortunate with injuries the transfer window means you can't do anything about it.
"If you do get a run of injuries in one position then you can be struggling. We are still vulnerable to that but we have a lot of flexible players and that gives us a cushion. But whether it is enough of a cushion only time will tell."
Watford boss Adrian Boothroyd is sure his team will compete at this level next season.
"We will be in the Premiership next season," Boothroyd said. "We have to be. There is no Plan B: it is all about Plan A.
"The financial rewards for being in this league next season are huge.
"We have to talk and come up with a strategy where we put a finger on things and say "that is what we go and do".
"We will look to sign players in January, but they have to be right. If I find what I am looking for, I am sure the money will be there.
"We need more firepower, and we are looking for quick fixes. We would like someone who has proved he can score goals at this level over a period of time."
