Dave Kitson has outlined his intention to sign a new contract with Reading.
The striker, who missed almost five months earlier this season due to a catalogue of injuries, is now back in Steve Coppell's plans after returning to fitness.
He feels he has nothing to prove after his injury setback and is hoping he will be rewarded with fresh terms at The Madejski Stadium.
"No talks have taken place, but I would like to get a new deal," Kitson told the Reading Evening Post.
"I don't feel I have to prove myself again because I have been out for so long.
"I would be confident that I would get one because the club knows what I am capable of.
"I don't think there is a player quite like me up front. It's nice to have that variation."
Kitson has made five appearances since returning from his injury and was pleased to set up Steve Sidwell for a goal in the 2-0 win over Aston Villa at the weekend.
He added: "That was more like the Dave Kitson of last season. I feel I am getting stronger and I think people would have seen my touch coming back on Saturday.
"I'm not just running around like a headless chicken any more."
