Several youngsters have made a real name for themselves this season the likes of Wayne Rooney, Jermain Jenas and John O'Shea have gone from nobodies to household names on the strength of some good performances.
Closer to home Nathan Tyson has received much acclaim for making the step-up from reserve team to first team football.
Castle, who is still in school, is joined in the matchday squad by youngsters Ahmet Rifat, Darren Campbell and Simeion Howell, all products of the Reading Youth Academy. Pards will be hoping that one of the afore mentioned quartet could prove to be Reading's very own answer to Wayne Rooney.
It is Castle's inclusion that is attracting most media attention, the youngster is tipped by many to go a long way in the game and has already played for England under 17s.
The schoolboy's ability is such that Alan Pardew will have no hesitation in throwing him in at the deep end as stand-in cover for Royals skipper Adie Williams.
"Castle, Rifat, Campbell and Howell are travelling and I’m itching to give Peter his chance. He is a top player, no doubt about it," commented boss Alan Pardew.
"He might even be in the first-team regularly next year, and I'd like to give him a run-out. He would then be Reading's youngest player. But he could carry that off no problem. That’s how good he is."
Pardew is looking to rotate his squad for the visit to Watford as his side play out their last two games which hold little value due to the fact that their Play-Off place is now secure.
Tonight's game against Watford represents a fantastic opportunity for four young academy stars to stake a claim for regular first team action next season and Reading Mad would like to wish them all the best!
