Reading midfielder Jay Tabb would love to stay at the club beyond this season but realises he must prove himself worthy of earning a new contract. The 26-year-old former Coventry man, whose current deal at the Madejski expires in the summer, has struggled with a foot injury this campaign but has started the last three matches. Tabb admitted he has yet to regain full fitness but if the manager picks him he is determined to give his all for the team he has great affection for to hopefully do enough to extend his time with the Royals. He told the Reading Evening Post: "I would love to sign a new deal as soon as possible, but at the same time I wont be putting any pressure on the club to do so. "At the end of the day I've been out for eight weeks, I've only played a handful of games this season and for the last two games I might have been a bit off the pace so I can't expect a new deal right now. "I'm sure it will all be sorted out. This is the club I want to be at, it's down to me to play well and I can't just take things for granted. I'm more than happy here and would love to stay."
