The 24-year-old has arguably been Reading's best player on their return to Division One. Winners at Wolves and Walsall have certainly upped his reputation.
Alan Pardew last week claimed that ten Premiership scouts were watching Hughes in action at Grimsby. Reportys suggest that Aston Villa, Charlton and Southampton are amongst the interested parties.
Reading assistant manager Kevin Dillon admits that it is inevitable that speculation about his future comes with his magical displays.
Dillon told readingfc.co.uk: "If I was watching him I'd see a bright, refreshing attitude. He scores goals, makes runs, and gets in the home which is important.
"He works for the team, he uses both feet, he's good in the air and he's got the potential to be one of the best young players I've worked with. Speculation about him is inevitable.
"He's a happy lad. You could put him in with some of the most miserable footballers in the game and he would cheer them up. He's very lively, confident but not cocky, and good to have around."
