"Kev, Wally and Nigel, who is in his first year with us, have done exceptionally well, so we want to keep them together.
"There is a process and obviously the first thing we have to do is secure Steve Coppell and that is very positive."
The Royals are also keen to get Steve Sidwell signed up.
"The core of the group, bar Steve Sidwell, is signed for at least this year and one more, so we are beginning to look at situations beyond that and I will try and move discussions forward in that respect in the next few weeks," Hammond continued.
"Nothing has changed with Siddy. We are still very keen for him to stay.
"We have an exceptionally good offer on the table.
"It's not just a financial issue with Sid, there are so many other things he wants to take into consideration and we'll keep our fingers crossed."
