Joe Gamble has been called up to the Republic of Ireland under 21 squad for the match against Finland on August 20th.
The match represents an opportunity for the former Cork City player to impress Mick McCarthy in the hope that he will receive a call-up to the Irish Senior Team.
Gamble, who has played a big part in pre-season, is looking to break into the First Team this season, however, his fiery temperament, which has threatened to boil over in recent friendlies, may count against him.
Joe scored the winner on his Ireland u21 debut back in April after coming on as a substitute. With the Republic level at 2-2 against Denmark with eighty-eight minutes on the clock Gamble's fifteen-yard drive gave the Irish a dramatic late victory.
