After a prolific campaign last year that saw him finish the club's top scorer with eighteen goals Nicky Forster has found himself on the bench for much opf the start of the news season.

A viral infection picked up prior to the first game of the season gave Butler and Cureton a chance to renew their old partnership up front, they didn't fail to impress.

In order to keep his former England under 21 international happy Alan Pardew has used him on the right-wing this season, however in recent weeks Sammy Igoe has been pressing his claim for the winger's spot.

Fozzy admitted that he has been training hard in an attempt to claim a regular first team spot, whether it is up front or on the wing.

"I do favour a central striking role, but the two boys playing up front are doing well and I'll have to make do with that for now," he admitted, speaking to Teamtalk.com.

"I'm happy to play there but I know I have quite a lot of improving to do and I know I can improve. I'm doing quite a bit of work on my left-foot shooting and cutting in from the right."

"I need to be better in that area, John Salako's fairly good at it and it is something I've been working on."
