Forster celebrates scoring a hat-trick against Ipswich in October. Another one against Pompey on Saturday wouldn't go amiss!
The Madejski Stadium plays host to Reading V Portsmouth on Saturday, a 24,000 sell out crowd is expected for the encounter.

The Royals will be hoping to improve on their sublime record of six wins in a row without conceding. Standing in their way will be the Division's run-away leaders Portsmouth, equipped with the likes of Shaka Hislop and Paul Merson.

Royals forward Nicky Forster admits that he cannot wait for Saturday's fixture to get underway.

The 29-year-old told the Reading Evening Post: "Portsmouth are an excellent team but they will have to play well to beat us. All of us can't wait to get out there. These are the games you want to be playing in.

"Pompey are a big club with big-name players on big wages and they will be expecting to go up even at this early stage of the season."

Reading have excelled in Division One this season. After only just managing to inch home in Division Two's second automatic promotion spot last season no-one expected much from the Thames-Valley based side.

However, the side has taken to the First Division like it's where they belong and currently occupy fifth place, just six points behind second placed Leicester, with a game in hand over the Foxes.

Forster added: "We have surprised ourselves a little bit but mainly it's other people who are more surprised by where we are in the table. We knew we had the basis of a good squad here and we knew we could be successful, but just how successful we were not sure."

The pacy centre-forward believes the side are certainly capable of maintaining their lofty position.

"It is coming up to Christmas, nearly halfway through the season, and we're doing very well and I do think we can keep it going. Saturday, though, is going to be our biggest test yet."

Forster was voted Division One Player of the Month for November by fans up and down the club, cementing his status as one of the countries best players. A string of fine displays certainly deserved the acknowledgment that it got, and Fozzy was understandably delighted with the award.

"It is a great honour to receive the award and even more special because it is voted for by fans.

"I don't know how many votes or what percentage were from Reading supporters but it is great to get it and now I'm just looking forward to Saturday."

Marcus Hahnemann currently leads the way in December's vote. In order to ensure that he gets the award he deserves why don't you vote for him too?
