The Royals striker has been rewarded for his services to sport by being given an MBE in the Queens Birthday Honours.
Ferdinand began his illustrious career at QPR Park Rangers before going onto play Turkish side Besiktas, Newcastle United, Tottenham, West Ham, Leicester and Bolton before joining The Royals last season.
The 38-year-old striker, who spoke recently about possibly quitting the game now, said: "I'm very honoured but it hasn't really sunk in.
"I suppose it won't until it all happens and I collect my award."
