"It's like a fairytale at the club at the moment and it would be a dream to get promoted."
The 33-year-old former Republic of Ireland international joined Reading from Carlisle in the summer and said he knew that promotion was always the goal.
"I knew that I was coming to a strong team and a strong squad of players," he said. "We had a dodgy spell in the middle of the season when we drew too many games, but it's all turned around, we're on a decent run at the moment.
"We've five games to play and I'm sure if we can win them, then we'll go up in second place."
