Speaking after his side's 2-1 victory, witnessed by a record 16,820 people, Read commented: "I just think there's a great prospect for Reading Football Club in Nathan Tyson.
"What I like about him is he asks questions and doesn't just sit there and nod his head. Even at half time he was asking me things.
"He's really worked; he's had to take a lot in this week. He adapted to a slightly different role in the second half, he's a credit to his club and his teammates."
Tyson was withdrawn from action with just over twenty minutes remaining, to the disappointment of the crowd. Read expalined that Tys had picked up a slight knock.
"I would have liked to have kept him on for his hat-trick but he's taken a knock and I didn't want to risk him. It was disappointing for him but I'd settle for two on my debut," added Read.
It is back to bread and butter league action now for the twenty-year-old, Gillingham are the visitors to the Madejski Stadium on Monday night. After making fleeting first team appearances in recent months Tyson will hope to make a place in the side his own after last night's performance.
Boss Alan Pardew believes that his young starlet, who has had loan spells at Cheltenham and Swansea, can go on to become a great player.
Speaking to readingfc.co.uk Pards backed up what Read had to say.
"I thought his goals were two fantastic hits. He looked the player most likely to score for England and he's got a great chance now of progressing."
