By far and away the best defensive record in the league, coupled with a run of six successive wins throughout October and November have led to Reading's promotion odds to be slashed to 4/1.
The good recent form continued on Saturday as the Royals held runaway leaders Portsmouth to a draw at the Madejski Stadium. Indeed, the home side were unlucky not to bag all three points.
Kevin Dillon is confident that once the Royals have got this month's tough games with Nottingham Forest and Sheffield United out of the way they can make a push for the play-offs.
"If we can stay in the top six until January we've got a good chance," admitted the assistant boss.
"We've played every side apart from Sheffield United and Nottingham Forest now, and we face them both in the next fortnight. After that we'll analyse how things have gone and see how far we think we can go. But I think we can definitely get into the play-offs."
