"It was a difficult game to judge in many ways. We were missing a few but you look at it and you think that we would like to have won the game more comfortably but credit to Rushden they made it very, very hard for us. Everytime we got the ball there was 9 - 10 players behind the ball and that made it difficult for us but difficult is what we wanted. We wanted to create a few more chances in that kind of set up.
It was also the hottest day of the year and its sometimes hard to be bright and bubbly in such conditions. Possession is what I was looking for and I wanted to have a lot of the ball and I wanted us to create a bit more but we didn't. At times I thought our build up was very slow and that gave Rushden the chance to recover and they were very good at stifling us and breaking themselves.
The pitch here was magnificent and bearing in mind that Rushden had a game here on Monday I thought their groundsmen did a terrific job to present it the way it was."
