Coppell not convinced about red card

"I thought we looked promising up until the sending off and that continued when we went down to 10 men," Coppell said.

"We were not outclassed and even with 10 men, I felt it was an opportunity to gain a point.

"You look at the penalty incident and I know my player and he never looked at their player at all.

"He just got into a tangle. The letter of the law says there has to be intent.

"My player is not stupid. He is not going to bring a player down there.

"All defenders now know it's better off losing a possible goal instead of a player, but the referee produced the quickest card I have seen in my life."

I'm obviously delighted. The most important thing in this job is winning football games. But nobody is being kidded - we've got a lot of work to do here yet.

"That said, I'm absolutely thrilled. We've come from behind to win and that's great. But I think the fans saw that there were moments of indecision.

"There was perhaps a bit of apprehension left over from last season. But it doesn't really matter. The end result is that we've won the game."
