"We have a very simplistic view of our football this season; we look at our next match and see if we can win it," said Coppell on Sky Sports.
"Where we finish at the end of the season won't be an accident."
However Coppell did admit he was delighted with the victory at The Madejski Stadium, whilst voicing sympathy with Sam Allardyce's complaint that Bolton's busy fixture schedule had compromised their efforts.
"[We have] great respect for Bolton and the way they do things," Coppell continued.
"They are competing with the big boys on a regular basis and are now looked upon in some respects as a yardstick in the division, and for us to get something from the game we are delighted for sure.
"Yeah I have to say that [Reading took advantage of Bolton's weariness].
"Given the intensity of the two matches they have played, it is a fair point.
"Jose Mourinho was talking about it this week. Some clubs having free weeks and other clubs not having free weeks because of European intervention and I think any manager would want everyone to be in the same boat.
"If we are playing in midweek then everyone plays in midweek, and there is no advantage to be had.
"We are all under the same physical duress and we have to perform with that pressure, the way it is at the moment you can get an advantage for sure."
On his goalscorer Kevin Doyle.
"He is a good player, he is now at the top stage and performing and continuing on from last season and it has been a remarkable rise for a player who came over from Ireland not too long ago.
"He is an integral part of what we do. He has good energy and he has shown recently he is a really good finisher."
