Reading's Sports Scientist Niall Clark has worked tirelessly with the Royals squad in an effort to improve their fitness since his appointment in the summer of 2000.
A former PE teacher, Clark, has recieved praise far and wide for his work which has enabled the Reading team to last the extra yard.
Pre season training has traditionally been feared by the players but it is also Sports Scientist Niall Clark's busiest time of year.
He told readingfc.co.uk: "My busiesst time is pre season and probably the off season when players and management are resting. Then I have time to plan the season, especially pre season. There are a lot of sessions to do and a lot of things to consider.
"I have nothing to do with football training per se, but I'm fortunate that the gaffer (Alan Pardew) gives me responsibility for the fitness training, we've added a few new ideas and there has been a slight change in emphasis.
"We're pleased with things so far; the lads are looking strong and fit so its good."
