Church praying for right result

The young Welsh striker realises just how big a deal it is in a players career to make the latter stages of a Cup competition but he's also pleased that Brian McDermott is repaying the faith shown in him by leading Reading to three straight wins since his permanent appointment.

He told skysports.com: "At the end of the day we have got a chance to get through to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup and not a lot of players get the chance to do that in their careers.

"Although we could be facing someone like Chelsea instead, we will take West Brom. We want to go far in this competition and do well in it, so no matter who we face we will be going out to win."

The Royals have won all three games since appointing Brian McDermott as permanent manager just over two weeks ago and Church believes the selection of a familiar face has helped steady the ship.

He added: "It was all a bit up in the air when we didn't have a permanent manager, but he has come in and everyone knew him from before anyway and it is good for the club's future.

"The players want to do well for him and he wants to do well for the club, so it is a good combination in that respect."
