Butler played for the reserves on Tuesday managing seventy minutes of the 1-0 win over Bournemouth. After no reaction to the game he has been declared fit to play for the first time since November 6th.
It is fantastic news for the Royals, Butler could well make the difference in the final two games of the season. Before his injury he wasn't in the form of his life but he is widely regarded as Reading's best player, even if he doesn't perform well he will give the whole team a psychological lift.
Alan Pardew told readingfc.co.uk "Martin Butler is going to be involved on Saturday".
"He's in the squad and will definetely be on the bench".
Bulter was naturally delighted to be making his comeback. He told readingfc.co.uk "I feel really good"
"I've got a few blisters, the ground was rock hard (for the reserve game). If anything was going to upset the ankle it was that pitch but overall I really enjoyed it.
"I felt sharp, that's the main thing, and everything else can fall into place when you've got a basic line of fitness.
"I'm definitely ready. It's up to the gaffer, there's quite a few of us fighting for places but I am ready and we'll see what happens. It's a massive game and everyone wants to be involved."
