Reading will take on the might of Manchester City just five days before their opening Coca Cola Championship game against Brighton & Hove Albion at the Madejski Stadium.
With the City game scheduled for so shortly before the season opener, the Royals will view the game as far more than a pre-season kick-about in the fading evening sun.
Tickets for the match, which kicks off at 8pm, will cost £10 for adults if booked in advance and £5 for under 16s, 16-21 year olds, and over 65s. However, if fans leave purchasing tickets tickets until the day of the game they will be charged £12 for an adults ticket and £6 for a concession.
Man City don't kick off their Premiership campaign until August 14th, however it is also their last scheduled pre-season game. Therefore, Kevin Keegan will be eager to field many of his first team stars, including the likes of England goalkeeper David James, highly-rated young winger Shaun Wright-Phillips, French striker Nicholas Anelka and veteran Paul Bosvelt.
Former City striker Shaun Goater could play for Reading against his former side, however he is currently struggling with a calf strain and may not be fit enough to feature.
