The Royals travel to Deepdale on Saturday 3rd January 2004 for their FA Cup Third Round clash with Craig Brown's Preston.
Whilst there was a chance that Reading get a prestigious draw against the likes of Man Utd, Arsenal or Chelsea the Royals have been handed a trip to deepest darkest Deepdale in January.
Nevertheless, some hardy Royals will make the long trip up North for the post-New Year clash, all with half an eye on a possible clash with a Premiership side in the next round.
Those who went to Reading's last game at Preston will hardly have fond memories of the event. In October 2002, major traffic congestion ensured Royals fans didn't arrive at the ground until half time. When they finally did get there they were hardly suitably entertained, pardew's team lost 1-0, pathetically.
However, the team beat the Lilywhites 5-1 in the return as well as 3-2 at the Madejski Stadium this October, so fans will be confident that the Royals will progress.
Season ticket holders will be able to buy their tickets for the game from next Monday and will be able to purchase a maximum of two per season ticket. STAR members will be able to get hold of theirs on Thursday 18th before the remaining seats (and there should be plenty) go on general sale after the Palace game on December 20th.
Should the club sell out their 1000 tickets, (STOP sniggering at the back!) they will be given more.
Prices will be £16 for adults and £11 for students and over 65s. Under 16s will pay just a fiver. People with disabilities will have to pay £9 to attend the game, as will their carers.
If the tie goes to a replay, and knowing Reading they will ensure they have to play two boring cup games instead of just one (think Walsall), the replay will be at the Madejski Stadium on Tuesday 13th January, kick off 8pm.
