The Sheffield Wednesday man, considered not good enough for Division Two when he arrived at the club in December, has made the step up to First Division football in style.
Owusu has now scored four times for the club, and with Nicky Forster out injured for a further four to six weeks, Coppell would love to tie up a permanent deal for the Wednesday man. But financing the move could ultimately prove problematic.
"Nicky Forster is injured, and we anticipate him being out for at least a month. In an ideal world we would do something with Lloyd, but it's not an ideal world! I'll speak to Sheffield Wednesday manager Chris Turner but we'll have to see," explained Coppell, speaking after yesterday's game.
Meanwhile, a move for Crystal Palace centre-back Darren Powell appears to be stalling. The former Brentford man has been out with a hamstring injury for the past few weeks and a Friday medical at the Madejski revealed he is not yet close to reaching full fitness.
"We realised he's still someway short of being fully fit, so it was difficult to carry out a full medical," said Coppell.
"The deal is a lot of money, so although I still want to sign him, it will be delayed until we can carry out a proper medical."
Powell is rated by Palace fans as their best centre-back, however a succession of injuries have put a dampener on his career at Selhurst Park. Hopefully when he is ready for action once more he will be able to resurrect his career at Reading.
