After a helter skelter seven games in twenty-one days, Coppell has admitted that he will allow his players to have a little break before the next frantic run of fixtures begins in two weeks time.
Coppell's side have shot to second in the league after an impressive run of results - so the Royals manager feels his over burdened players deserve the chance to put their feet up for a bit.
"I couldn't have asked any more of the players in the hectic seven match period that has just gone. I think we've always been positive and tried to go forward and create things," he said, speaking after yesterday's game.
"It think it's been a heavy load on the players and now it's time for them to have a rest and a pint of lager.
"I can't give them too much time off, but we'll try and do things differently and a change is as good as a rest."
Although the Royals have picked up 11 points and a Carling Cup defeat in their last seven games - decent form by anyone's standards, the cup blip aside, Coppell was left frustrated by Burnley's resolute defending yesterday.
Steve Cotterill's well-organised team, who have the best defensive record in the division, refused to be torn apart by Reading's attacking line.
Even in-form striker Dave Kitson couldn'y break the deadlock. The flame-haired forward managed to put the ball into the net with his hand, yet it proved to be no divine interntion from the Hand of God, as the linesman picked up on the Reading forwards misdemeanor and flagged frantically.
The Clarets superb defensive display left Coppell somewhat disappointed.
"When we're at home it should be about us and it's down to teams like ourselves to break a solid defensive unit like Burnley down," he added.
"But they were very, very good at what they did and they made it hard. I think if we'd got a goal early on it might have been a different game."
